The sounds of rain falling outside brought a sense of comfort to him.

Safe.

It felt safe.

Only when it rained , it felt safe to feel the feelings he suppressed every other day.

He'd open the curtains that he usually kept close.

In the way he wanted to.

Every look, every word and every action.

In the way he thought they should have.

It was his time, his.

Nothing, not even the truth, could take that away from him.

Except when the rain stopped.

It no longer feels safe when the rain stops.

So he stops too.

At first it took a long while to stop thinking.

But as years go by, he got by too.

Slowly, methodically, he'd close his mind.

And before everything else invades him.

He says goodbye to everything.
